Description
The DUO Backdoor Project Pokémon Pikachu Serious Face Limited brings together the unmistakable appearance of Pikachu and the practical lure-making expertise of DUO International.
Officially known in Japan as the Kiritto Face version, this model features Pikachu with a focused, determined expression. Its distinctive presentation gives it strong collectible appeal while retaining the construction and action required for real fishing situations.
Slow-Jitter Topwater Action
The Pikachu lure uses DUO’s unusual Slow Jitter topwater design. A slow, steady retrieve allows the body to move rhythmically across the surface, producing visible disturbance and vibration without requiring an aggressive retrieve.
Cast it around shallow cover, shoreline structure or open pockets and retrieve it slowly to keep the lure in the strike zone for longer. The character-shaped profile creates a surface presentation that is unlike a conventional popper or walking bait. DUO specifically recommends a slow retrieve to maximize its appeal.
Serious Face—Kiritto Face Version
The Serious Face version is based on the Japanese きりっとFace, meaning a sharp, focused or determined expression.
Compared with the cheerful Smiling Face model, this version gives Pikachu a more battle-ready appearance. It is a distinctive choice for Pokémon collectors, JDM lure enthusiasts and anglers looking for an unconventional topwater bait.
Functional Tail Hook System
The lure is fitted with a hook system extending into the tail area. An internal wire reinforces the tail connection and is designed to provide a more dependable hook position when fish strike from behind.
DUO notes that the fishing line may occasionally contact or tangle with the tail hook. Anglers who experience this can remove the tail hook, although doing so may change the lure’s original hook configuration.
Made Entirely in Japan
The Pikachu Slow Jitter lure is manufactured at DUO’s facility in Yaizu, Japan. DUO states that the complete production process—including moulding and finishing—is performed in Japan.
This construction quality helps distinguish the lure from novelty merchandise: it is designed as both a Pokémon collectible and a functional Japanese topwater lure.
Handling Note
Because Pikachu’s ears extend beyond the main body, avoid striking the lure against rocks, docks, concrete or other hard obstacles during casting. DUO specifically warns that the ears may be damaged through contact with structure.
